Square Enix is thinking about the possibility of making DLCs for Final Fantasy XVI
Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida said that Square Enix is considering the possibility of creating story DLC for Final Fantasy XVI.
Previously, Yoshida had said that the game had a complete story and that DLCs that would expand the narrative were not in development, but that the situation could change depending on the wishes of the fans.
In an interview with GamerBravesYoshida noted that fans are interested in more stories set in the world of Valisthea and that the team was now “considering our options”.
“As you know, in Final Fantasy 16 the only thing we wanted was to create a complete story, something that you can fully enjoy from the beginning without any DLC and I think we were able to do that,” he said. “But now we understand that we’re getting feedback from players who’ve played and a lot of players want to see more and we know that and we understand that.”
“For us, we’re taking that into account and thinking about our options moving forward, so hopefully in the near future we might have something that we can give to all of you.”
In another interview, this time to KakuchopureiYoshida was asked which character besides Clive he would like to play.
“Personally, I would make Cid playable. He’s such an interesting character with his complex life and history,” said Yoshida, adding that this is just personal preference and not official.
Localization director Michael-Christopher Koji Fox, on the other hand, said he wanted to make Torgal the dog playable.
Lastly, the duo commented on which Eikons they would consider making playable in potential DLC. Yoshida chose Alexander, while Koji Fox chose Hades.
“When you think about Clive’s abilities, you can accelerate or reverse time by equipping Alexander,” he said. “Alexander can be Castle Rosalith! The castle can transform into Eikon itself in a cool way! It won’t fit in the game, but it would be really cool to do,” said Yoshida.
“I would love to see Hades come along and burn the whole world to the ground, that would be cool,” said Koji Fox.
Final Fantasy XVI is available for PS5.
