The case of the presenter

After undergoing a heart transplant in August 2023, Fausto Silva faced new surgery at the Albert Einstein Hospital, in São Paulo, this Monday (26). This time, it was a kidney transplant, necessary due to the worsening of a chronic kidney disease. The surgery went without complications, according to the hospital.

According to a statement from Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, Faustão was admitted on February 25th for preparations for a kidney transplant, after the hospital was contacted by the Transplant Center of the State of São Paulo. The surgery was uneventful, and Faustão will remain under observation to ensure the adaptation of the new organ and the necessary clinical monitoring.

Family members reported that, when the presenter underwent a heart transplant the previous year, his kidneys were already compromised, leading him to undergo hemodialysis. The former Globo player waited two months on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. The kidney donor was Fábio Cordeiro da Silva, an amateur football player who died due to a stroke.
