Widow of Chorão goes to court against the singer's son

Graziela Gonçalves, ex-wife of singer Alexandre Magno Abrão, known as “Chorão”, filed a new lawsuit against the singer's son this Sunday (28). In the last years of his life, the artist was very depressed and emotionally unstructured. In 2013, he was found dead in his apartment, as a result of a cocaine overdose at the age of 42. At the time, the couple was separated due to constant crises due to drug use.

The sharing of assets

After the musician's death, the inventory was released with the sharing of image rights and products related to the band “Charlie Brown Jr.” According to the São Paulo court, the artist left 45% of the rights to Graziela, while Alexandre received 55%.

The legal dispute over inheritance

In 2022, Graziela Gonçalves filed a lawsuit alleging that Alexandre Abrão signed contracts with several companies without her consent. At the time, judge Felipe Poyares Miranda, from the 16th Civil Court of the Central Forum in São Paulo, determined that any business done in the name of the brand must be communicated in advance to the heir. An accounting examination is underway to determine possible gains that have not been passed on to Graziela.

The second legal battle is over the right to use the brand. The heir said that, upon discovering that his father had not registered the brand, he went to the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) and registered it in his name. Graziela says she should be consulted, since she is also the heir.
