Blue Beetle star praises Bruna Marquezine

With the new series “Maldives” on Netflix and being cast in the new DC film “Blue Beetle”Bruna Marquezine is on a wave of success. The actress was confirmed in the cast of the film in March 2022 and posted on Instagram the video in which she received the news. “A BRAZILIAN in a DC superhero movie?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! And that Brazilian is ME? What?!?!?!?!?! This always seemed like something so distant, especially for a girl who was born in Duque de Caxias.”she wrote in the post caption.

“Blue Beetle” is the first DC film to have a Latino protagonist, Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai) will play Jaime Reyes, a superhero who gains his powers after an alien scarab attaches itself to the back of his neck. Bruna Marquezine will play Penny, Jaime's love interest in the comics. In May, some photos of Xolo in the superhero costume were leaked and Bruna reacted and even joked saying “oh, daddy”.

Xolo even posted an Instagram story with the actress, but soon deleted the image, which led fans to speculate about a supposed romance between the two. More recently, Xolo posted a photo with the film's director and thanked him for the experience. Bruna soon commented on the post with a blue heart and the actor responded to the comment with the phrase “My Favorite Penny”. Some fans seeing the interaction between the two immediately said that they would make a beautiful couple and Bruna received several compliments and congratulations for the role.

The film is scheduled to premiere in August 2023 and features Susan Sarandon, Belissa Escobedo and Harvey Guillén in the cast. Alice Braga is the only other Brazilian who has participated in the DC cinematic universe and has also made a Marvel film, “New Mutants”. Bruna also ended up accidentally posting a story on Instagram already dressed as Penny, but soon deleted the photo and asked that no one share the click.
