Belo Horizonte confirms first death from chikungunya in 2024

This Thursday (22), the Ministry of Health announced that since the beginning of 2024, Brazil has recorded 151 deaths from dengue. To date, the country has 740,942 probable cases of the disease, with an incidence of 364.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. There are still 501 deaths that are being investigated, whether there is a relationship with the disease.

Minas Gerais is in first place on the list of suspected cases of the disease, followed by São Paulo, with 124,597 cases, the Federal District, with 83,284, Paraná, with 75,499 cases and Rio de Janeiro, with 55,187 proven diagnoses. ¡able. Symptoms of the disease

Like dengue, chikungunya is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The most common symptoms are similar to a common virus, and include intense joint pain, back pain, red spots on the body, itchy skin, nausea and vomiting. The treatment is carried out by increasing the amount of water ingested by the patient, requiring only rest.
