Brazil and Argentina can hardly miss out on participation in next year’s World Cup in Qatar. Both countries won in the night from Thursday to Friday (Dutch time) again in the qualification and are still unbeaten after eleven matches.

Brazil was in Manaus with 4-1 too strong for Uruguay. Neymar opened the scoring in the tenth minute, followed by two goals from Raphinha and one from Gabriel Barbosa.

Luis Suárez did in the 77th minute at a 3-0 score back for Uruguay, which takes the fifth place in the South American World Cup qualification. Ajax player Antony, one of the South American players who seems to be unavailable in the Eredivisie this weekend due to international obligations, came in for Brazil in the 61st minute.

The Argentines, led by Lionel Messi, booked a small victory over Peru: 1-0. Striker Lautaro Martínez scored the only goal of the game in Buenos Aires just before half-time.

In the second half, Yoshimar Yotún missed a penalty kick on behalf of Peru. Ajax players Lisandro Martínez and Nicolás Tagliafico did not get any playing time with Argentina.

Brazil and Argentina are in an excellent position in world cup qualification with 31 and 25 points respectively. The top four goes straight to the World Cup and the number five plays play-offs.
