Flamengo hires second top scorer in the Carioca Championship

Interestingly, he is the scorer of the only goal Flamengo conceded in Carioca, in a 1-1 draw, valid for the second round. At the time, the red-black team was entirely made up of boys from the base, in João Pessoa.

Gabigol's replacement

Carlinhos arrives to replace the absence of Gabriel Barbosa, suspended by the Court of Sports Anti-Doping Justice (TJD-AD), until April 2025 for attempted anti-doping fraud. The attacker was accused of hindering the exam in April 2023.

In a statement, Flamengo stated that the team and the attacker will appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland, a FIFA court. Gabigol's defense should arrive for analysis next Tuesday.

Carioca Final

Flamengo and Nova Iguaçu decide this year's State title. Laranja da Baixada is the big surprise of the competition, taking Botafogo's place in the semi-finals and eliminating Vasco, in a packed Maracanã. The Gávea club had the best campaign in the competition and overcame Fluminense to reach the decision.

The first game takes place this Saturday, at 5pm. The return match is scheduled for April 8th. Both clashes take place at the Maracanã stadium.
