Gabigol admits the accuracy of the photo and admits: “I was wrong”

A few days after the leak of a photo wearing the Corinthians, Gabigol spoke about the matter publicly for the first time. In addition to admitting that the photograph is true, the team's attacker Flamengo he apologized to the club's fans for making a mistake, according to him.

“First, I messed up. I think it's making mistakes, apologizing, knowing that I made a mistake. But at the moment the photo came out, I was very perplexed. I didn't understand. This period that I spent without speaking, without speaking out, was a period that I took to think. Of course, in the emotion of the facts, my first thought was to deny it. As I talk to my friends, I collect shirts, I exchange shirts, be it national team shirts, basketball shirts, and this shirt I ended up receiving and wearing”, confessed the athlete.

After the photo was leaked, the club's management met with the player, applying punishments such as a fine of 10% of his next month's salary, as well as having the number 10 shirt, which had belonged to him since the beginning of 2023, taken away. From now on, Gabriel will wear the number 99 in all competitions that are possible to change, by regulation.

“As I said, I made a mistake, I apologize. But it was an act that I didn't think about that much. I didn't know all this was going to happen. I would never wear a shirt to be able to disrespect Flamengo's shirt, Flamengo's fans. This is an act that exists in many outskirts, wearing several shirts. It's apologizing and saying it won't happen again”, he concluded in an interview with “UOL Esporte”.
