Germany 6-0 in Morocco’s World Cup opener

This Monday morning (24), at 5:30 am, Germany and Morocco faced each other for their debut in the World Cup. The German team, champion of two World Cups (2003 and 2007), applied a 6-0 defeat over debutant Morocco, as it was their first participation in history in a World Cup. The goals were scored by: Alexandra Popp (2), Klara Buehl, Hanane Aït El Haj (gc), Yasmin M’Rabet (gc), Lea Schuller.

The game, as expected, was dominated by the world champions. Morocco found it very difficult to efficiently carry out its style of play, which was to go on the counterattack to benefit the high lines of the German selection. However, the loss of pressure by the Germans was done with mastery, recovering possession of the ball very quickly and preventing the Moroccans from speeding away.

Even at the beginning of the first stage, Alexandra Popp appeared with a header, in the 11th minute to open the scoring. Kathrin Hendrich, German defender, crossed for the attacker after a ball steal in the wrong exit of the Moroccan team. After a confusion inside the small area and, with the bad exit of the Moroccan goalkeeper, Er-Rmichi, the ball deflected towards the goal, and Zineb Redouani tried to take the ball but ended up pushing it into the goal, in the 79th minute.

At the very end of the game, Lea Schuller scored another one for the Germans, after the Moroccan goalkeeper slammed it close to the small area. Thus, the German team applied the biggest rout in the history of the World Cups.
