After months of speculation about Ryan Gosling's participation at the Oscars, it has been confirmed that he will sing the iconic song “I'm Just Ken”, from the film “Barbie”, at this year's awards. The event takes place on March 10th. The information is from Variety.
Some Oscar 2024 nominations left internet users surprised. One of them is the film “Barbie”, which competes in six categories, including “Best Film”. Among the nominations is “Best Original Song”, the iconic “I'm Just Ken”, performed by Ryan Gosling, whose character is Ken in the film.
For Variety magazine, the song's composer Mark Ronson said that his dream was for Gosling to perform the song at the Oscar ceremony. When asked if the song could be sung by another singer live during the awards show, Ronson said: “No. I think if Ryan doesn't do it, we won't do it”.
“I'm Just Ken” is one of two songs from “Barbie” to earn an Oscar nomination for best original song. The other is “What Was I Made For”, by Billie Eilish and Finneas, which won the Grammy for best song written for visual media.
