Matías Rojas is Timão’s new signing!

Midfielder Matías Rojas, 27, was announced by Corinthians this Tuesday afternoon (11). The Paraguayan signed a contract with the São Paulo team valid until June 2026. To hire Rojas, Corinthians paid 1.8 million dollars (about R$ 8.7 million) for gloves to the player.

Rojas will not play tonight’s match against Universitario, from Peru, valid for the Copa Sudamericana Playoffs, as Timão was unable to register the Paraguayan in time. Because of this, the player will only be able to play for Corinthians in the Copa Sudamericana if the team from São Paulo qualifies for the round of 16 of the competition.

In national competitions, Rojas is released: the player is already in the CBF’s Daily Newsletter (BID) and should debut with Timão’s shirt next Saturday (15), when Corinthians faces América-MG in a match valid for the quarterfinals final of the Brazilian Cup. The Paraguayan’s fitness is not a concern for Corinthians, as the midfielder has been playing normally for Racing, from Argentina, his former club.

The athlete has been in Brazil since July 1st and has already visited the Neo Química Arena. On the Sunday before last (2), the player was in a box at the stadium following the match between Corinthians and Bragantino, which ended with Timão’s defeat by 1-0.

Matías Rojas began his career in 2014, coming from the base of Cerro Porteño, in Paraguay. In 2017, the player was loaned to Lanús, from Argentina, and in 2018 to Defensa y Justicia, also from Argentina. He transferred to Racing in 2019 and stayed there until June of that year, when his contract with the Argentine club ended. With Avellaneda’s team shirt, the Paraguayan played 126 games, scoring 26 goals and giving 13 assists.
