Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Court Proceedings, The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is in court for trial.

A source confirmed to AFRILATEST that the IPOB leader was brought to the federal high court in Abuja by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and that he “is in the courtroom”.

PAST EVENTS

In June, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was arrested and brought to Nigeria to face trial after he jumped bail in 2017. he was re-arrested few months ago and has been in DSS custody ever since. it was also disclosed by his lawyer that the federal government recently amended the charges against him.

The IPOB leader will now be re-arraigned on a seven-count charge as against the five counts he was previously answering to, bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism.

There is a heavy security presence as the DSS, the Nigerian Army and officers of the Nigerian Police Force are guarding every entrance to the court and the streets leading to the court building.

All Journalists whose names were not on a prepared list were not allowed near the court premises.

All Staff of Abuja high court who arrived in buses were made to stand in a queue and were carefully searched before gaining entrance into the premises.
