“Meu Cunhado é um Vampiro”, a Brazilian feature film starring Leandro Hassum, premiered in the Netflix catalog on December 24, 2023. The comedy film reached first place in the ranking list of most-watched non-English-language Netflix films.
The success of the film on the streaming service
According to some data released by the streaming, the feature film registered 11.4 million hours watched in the week of December 25th to 31st and reached an average of 7.6 million views.
Leandro Hassum also thanked everyone on Instagram, writing in the caption of the published photo: “and we continue making history! We were the most watched non-English language film on Netflix. And we remain in the top 10 in 27 countries!”, then even made a pun with the numbers achieved, saying: “My sincere 7 million and 600 thousand thanks for every play that was given!”.
The film's lead spans 27 countries, and is predominantly in Latin and Central America, but also expands its reach to some European countries, such as Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The plot and cast of the film
In this comedy, written by Paulo Cursino (“Mussum: O Filmis), Leandro Hassum is Fernandinho, a former football player and family man who is always fighting with his ex-wife. His life suddenly changes when he receives a visit from his brother-in-law, Greg (Grandson), younger brother of his current wife. In addition to discovering that he is lazy, Fernandinho also ends up discovering that Greg is a vampire who decides to attack the neighborhood and who intends to dominate the world. To play the hero and save humanity, Fernandinho will have the help of two teenagers, his daughter, Carol (Mel Maia), and Ameba (Caio Mendonça).
Its cast includes names such as, in addition to Leandro Hassum as Fernandinho, Rômulo Arantes Neto as Greg, Mel Maia as Carol, Monique Alfradique as Vanessa and Edson Celulari as Ula Drax.
