new covid-19 cases in Netherland increased
NL: The number of corona INFECTIONS in the Netherlands has increased further last week. The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) has registered 53,981 positive test results, 5.3 percent more than a week earlier. “With the exception of a dip due to the Easter weekend, the number of reports of people with a positive corona test has been increasing almost every week,” the institute said.
In addition, the percentage of positive tests increased from 9.6 percent to 10.1 percent last week. The number of tests administered last week was 493,510, slightly more (1 percent) than the previous week.
The reproduction rate, which reflects how quickly the corona virus spreads, has also increased. The RIVM now figures it at 1.06. This means that 100 people who contracted the virus infect on average 106 others. The R-number was below 1 last week.
