It’s been a year of ups and downs for Nicki Minaj. She marked another top 5 entry on the Billboard 200 chart with the Beam Me Up Scotty mixtape reissue and a Top 20 guest hit on Bia’s “Whole Lotta Money (Remix)”. “Super Bass” from 2011 was finally certified Diamond.
However, Nicki Minaj has found herself at the center of the controversy more than once in 2021.
The 38-year-old master of ceremonies faced significant reactions after tweeting misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine. Minaj was also involved in a “black peach” scandal involving pop singer Jesy Nelson.
In addition, Jennifer Hough is suing Nicki Minaj and her partner, Kenneth Petty. Hough alleges that the couple and their associates engaged in harassment and threatening behavior in an effort to cause him to retract his story of petty rape in 1994. Minaj has not publicly addressed the trial.
