OceanGate suspends activities after Titan submarine tragedy

The company OceanGate founded in 2009, owner of the submarine Titan imploded in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean in order to locate the remains of the sunken ship Titanic, announced this Thursday (6) the suspension of all its tasks. The attitude is carried out after the implosion, caused by the difference in the internal and external pressure of the Titan, which culminated in the death of five people who were on the vessel.

The company OceanGate published a quick statement on social networks announcing the suspension of its activities: “OceanGate has suspended all exploration and commercial operations”.

The company OceanGate was founded in 2009 by the deceased diver stockton rush, with the function of acting as a company responsible for the exploration of the ocean and niche played in the submarine supply market with the participation of crew members to increase scientific research for scientists and tourism for passengers. The highlight of OceanGate was the first institution responsible for obtaining images of the Titanic in 8k, which happened in the second half of last year.

Owner Stockton Rush was responsible for supervising financial and construction measures through the engineering service. Rush began his profession with aircraft, when he became the youngest pilot in the world at the age of 19 in 1981, with the patent DC-8 Type/Captain at the United Airlines Jet Training Institute, according to reports described on the OceanGate website.

Who were the crew on the submarine

The five crew members who died on the imploded submarine were: OceanGate owner Stockton Rush; vice-president of Engro Corporation, Shahzada Dawood, aged 48, and his son Suleman, aged 19, who was studying business at the University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow. The other two passengers were 58-year-old British explorer and chairman of Action Advice Hamish Harding; as well as the famous French Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, 77 years old.
