Otto Porter announces surprise retirement after release from Jazz

With only 11 seasons on the courts of NBAthe wing Otto Porter couldn't even put on his shirt Utah Jazz, being released by the franchise last Monday, the 11th. However, the surprise came hours later, when the player announced his retirement from the league. Champion for Golden State Warriors in 2022, it was in Toronto Raptors before being exchanged.

“Over the past 11 years, I have had the chance to live my dream of playing in the NBA. But my dream was crowned when I won the NBA title. Unfortunately, my body does not allow me to play at the level I hope to and so I have decided to retire.”said the player.

Third pick in the 2013 Draft, Otto Porter played for teams like Washington Wizards, Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic, in addition to Warriors, Raptors and Jazz. Even with all this time in the league, he suffered a lot from injuries, which resulted in the winger playing only 527 games, averaging 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds. The player always showed potential, but when it seemed like he was going to take off, he got injured.

In 2017, he finished fourth in the voting for the most improved player award, but he never managed to play a prominent role in the NBA. In 2019, after being traded to the Bulls, he gained space and the chance to produce more. But he played 15 games for the Illinois franchise the rest of that season and was injured again the next.
