Ratinho is sued and may have to pay BRL 900,000

everyone knows that little mouse he’s one of those artists who doesn’t mince words and speaks his mind. This was even an asset that made him popular and famous the way he is today. However, the presenter will have to face problems in court.

“There’s a citizen who said he’s going to sue me because I said that! Are you going to sue me? I’ll show you your running sheet, okay? Already caught. Come! Come sue me! I’ll show you who you are! You don’t even go around the corner! Tramp! Rascal! Shameless! Come on me! I’m in a fight! I really like confusion! Done!”, said Ratinho at the time.

Two other actions may also harm the SBT presenter. In the first of them, the defense of Agripino Magalhães also asks that Ratinho retract in the program in relation to the verbal attacks on the Alternate State Deputy with daily fine of BRL 10,000, up to BRL 200,000.

In the second action, the defense asks that Agripino Magalhães go to Ratinho’s program and have a right of reply. In the same situation, a daily fine of BRL 10,000, up to BRL 200,000.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

At the end of June, Ratinho criticized the LGBTQIA+ Pride Parade, calling the event a “carnival from hell”, during the program that bears his name, on SBT.

“How is that business over there? The gay parade… I wanted to ask, go do it at the Sambadrome, the mess there on Sunday, go there at the Sambadrome, there you can get naked and do whatever you want. Leave Avenida Paulista for the family, to go there and play with the children, leave Avenida Paulista for the families, go to the gay parade there in the devil’s Sambódromo, there you can, because in my opinion, the gay parade is another carnival” , he said.

At the time, the LGBTQIA+ Association of São Paulo, through state deputy Agripino Magalhães Júnior (MDB), already said that it would file a lawsuit against the presenter.

“I am going to sue him for LGBTphobia, which is a crime of racism, and now it has become a racial insult, from 1 to 5 years (in prison). (I will sue you for) Incitement to hatred and propagation of offenses against the rights of the LGBTI+ population. LGBTIphobic, criminal, ignorant and prejudiced speech against the LGBTQI+ population, and other barbarities. Only through Justice can we fight hatred, prejudice and setbacks like these speeches and preaching “, said the deputy.

It is worth remembering that, in 2014, Ratinho and SBT were sentenced by the Superior Court of Justice to pay compensation of R$ 150,000 to the Chilean pastor Victor Orellana, founder of the Acalanto Church, the first dedicated to the homosexual public in Brazil.

Remembering that in 2011, the judge Fábio Quadros determined that the use of the word “gay” was not offensive, but “the mockery”, the “mockery” and the “foul and derogatory treatment of the faith professed by the author”, which extrapolated Ratinho’s right to freedom of expression.

In 2018, in a video, he even talked about LGBT actors in TV Globo soap operas. At the time he shot: “I was here watching the Globo soap opera, that cangaceiro thing and such. But hey, Globo put ‘faggot’ even in a cangaceiro movie, people? At that time, I hadn’t ‘faggot’”, said the SBT presenter in the video. “Do you think you had ‘fag’ at that time?” he continued. “It’s very ‘fag’: it’s ‘fag’ at six in the afternoon, it’s ‘fag’ at eight at night, it’s ‘fag’ at nine o’clock, it’s ‘fag’ at ten o’clock, it’s very ‘fag’. I don’t know what’s going on, there’s not so much ‘faggot’ like that. Or have? It will be?”.
