This Saturday (27), companies such as AliExpress and Shopee will start charging a 20% fee on purchases made of up to US$ 50 in international products. The fee will come into effect from Thursday.
However, in order to comply with import declaration deadlines, some e-commerce companies decided to start charging the fee this Saturday. AliExpress and Shopee were examples of companies that started this process this Saturday.

Shopee reported that after the law is approved, it will act more strictly in increasing import taxes on products. According to the company, the taxes will actually become even stronger and more effective starting on August 1st. Amazon said that purchases made through its company will only have the taxes included starting on July 31st. This law was approved by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at the end of June and approved by the National Congress. Only now are efforts to officially come into effect. It began to be called the “blouse tax” and will not affect medicines. It is also emphasized that products purchased by Brazilian sellers will not undergo any changes, since 9 out of every 10 purchases made are from Brazilian sellers.
Fees charged
AliExpress and Shopee said that, in addition to the 20% import tax, there will also be an increase in the Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS), which will be a 17% fee. The company guarantees that all customers will receive all the information in detail on their official channels. Shopee also says that the fees have been charged since the 27th, in addition to the DIR (Import Declaration of Shipments) fee, which is the amount charged for products imported from abroad, and reinforces once again that they will keep all their customers aware of the changes that will occur in more detail.
