Santos announces Patrick from Atlético-MG to compete in Series B

*Santos takes a decisive step in its quest to return to the elite of Brazilian football by officially signing midfielder Patrick, who recently played for Atlético Mineiro.

The value of the transaction, according to GE sources, is around US$1 million, approximately R$5.1 million, marking a significant investment by Peixe to reinforce its squad in the Series B dispute.

Patrick, 31 years old, arrives at Santos after a discreet spell at Atlético-MG, where he has played since last year. With just one goal and two assists during his stay at Galo, the player is now looking for a fresh start in a new environment, where he hopes to rediscover his best football.

His peak was experienced at Internacional, the club for which he left his mark between 2018 and 2022, before being traded to São Paulo. For Colorado, the midfielder accumulated 9 goals and 8 assists in 55 games, demonstrating his ability to contribute both in creating and finishing plays.

Enthusiasm and expectations

Patrick's arrival is seen with enthusiasm by the Santos fans, who hope that the midfielder can add quality and experience to the team in its journey towards returning to the first division of Brazilian football.

In addition to Patrick, Santos probes striker Maceió do Mirassol, the announcement of this latest reinforcement has not yet occurred due to the club's impediment in registering new athletes, resulting from a transfer ban. However, Santos hopes that the restriction will be lifted soon, following an agreement reached with Krasnodar, from Russia, related to Cueva's transfer in 2019.

Upcoming games

Santos makes its debut in the 2024 Brazilian Series B Championship in Brasília this Friday (19), facing Paysandu. Then, on the 26th, the team travels to Santa Catarina to face Avaí, and on May 6th it returns to Vila Belmiro for the confrontation against Guarani.
