Santos negotiates with Henrique Dourado to reinforce attack in Series B
– international sports, latest sports news, local games and international games

Santos is looking for reinforcements for this year's Series B and, according to information from journalist Vagner Frederico, the name highlighted is Henrique Dourado, currently at Portuguesa de Desportos. With the transfer window closing soon, Peixe is racing against time to finalize negotiations and register the contract with the CBF today.

Henrique Dourado, at 34 years old, is a center forward who has played for major Brazilian clubs, such as Palmeiras, Flamengo and Cruzeiro. His peak was at Fluminense in 2017, when he won the top scorer in the Brazilian Championship alongside striker Jô, from Corinthians, with 18 goals each. That season, Dourado scored an impressive 32 goals, setting his personal best to date.

Reinforcement for Santos' attack

If the negotiation with Peixe is completed successfully, Dourado will arrive at Santos as one of the most experienced players in the squad, joining names like William Bigode (37), Julio Furch (34), Gil (36) and Tomás Rincón ( 36). Despite the presence of these experienced players, Santos maintains a squad with many young athletes, which results in an average age of around 26 years. The arrival of the “Reaper” would reinforce Peixe's attack, whose main challenge is to return to the elite of Brazilian football.

Return to a giant

For Dourado, this would be a great opportunity to once again wear the shirt of another giant of Brazilian football. In its last seasons, the “Reaper” failed to stand out in a big way. After his short spell at Cruzeiro upon returning from Chinese football in 2023, Dourado scored just one goal and left the Minas Gerais club before the end of the season, moving to Chapecoense, where he also failed to achieve a good run of performances. At Portuguesa, the striker scored just one goal in the 2024 Campeonato Paulista against Red Bull Bragantino, in his main specialty, penalty kicks.
