Taylor Swift surpasses Drake and achieves record for biggest debut on Spotify with new album “Midnights”

It took less than 24 hours for Taylor Swift to once again make history on digital platforms. Her tenth work, “Midnights”became the most played album in Spotify's history and thus set the record for the biggest debut on the platform.

“Midnights” debuted with no less than 185 million streams, and the song “Lavender Haze” it was the most played track with 14.3 million plays. The record-holding album previously belonged to “Certified Lover Boy”, by Drake, released in 2021, had 155 million streams. Taylor broke the mark in just 18 hours and surpassed that number.

With the album, the 32-year-old singer confirms her success around the world and the impact she has on the music industry. “This is a true legacy”, stated the music platform Spotify itself. On her social media, Taylor was quite surprised with her work performance and thanked her fans for the achievement.

“How did I get so lucky with you guys, doing something as amazing as this? Like…what happened??!?!”wrote the singer on Twitter.

In addition to “Midnights”, the singer also announced several surprise releases, including a special version called “3AM Edition” which has 7 bonus tracks. She had already stated that the album would be a visual album and the video for “Anti-Hero”, the 1st to be released, is now on air.
