This Wednesday (17), the matches for the third phase of the Copa do Brasil 2024 were defined during the draw held at the CBF headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro. Joining the 20 teams that advanced from the previous stage, 12 teams will enter the competition at this stage.
Third phase clashes defined
At this stage of the 2024 Copa do Brasil, teams such as Athletico, Ceará, Goiás and Vitória enter the dispute, which have been highlighted for their performances in different tournaments. Scheduled for the weeks of May 1st and 22nd, the clashes will be played on a round-trip basis, providing excitement and uncertainty until the last moment. After this phase, a draw will be carried out by the CBF to define the clashes for the round of 16. In case of equality in the sum of the results, the decision will be taken to penalties, as the away goal criterion will not be applied

After the third phase, a new draw will be made at the CBF headquarters to define the round of 16 clashes. The CBF also requires stadiums with a minimum capacity of 10,000 fans for games. In the event of a tie in the total of results, the classification will be decided by penalties, without taking into account the away goal as a tiebreaker.
Featured teams, draw and odds
The 32 teams were grouped into two pots, based on their classification in the CBF ranking, to guarantee balanced clashes. Teams from one pot will face those from the other, promoting exciting and competitive games.
In Pot 1 are: Flamengo, Palmeiras, São Paulo, Athletico-PR, Atlético-MG, Corinthians, Fluminense, Grêmio, Fortaleza, Internacional, Bahia, Botafogo, Bragantino, Atlético-GO, Ceará and Cuiabá.
In Pot 2, we have a variety of talented clubs, including Sousa-PB, Águia de Marabá, Amazonas, América-RN, Ypiranga-RS, Brusque, Botafogo-SP, Operário-PR, Sampaio Corrêa, Criciúma, Vitória, CRB, Sport , Juventude, Vasco and Goiás. From the third phase onwards, all clubs, regardless of their division, will be awarded an equal share of participation, totaling R$ 2.2 million. In addition, progress to the round of 16 yields an additional quota of R$3.4 million for those classified.
