Tottenham fired Mourinho

This dismissal is faster than Mou’s contract which expires at the end of the 2023 season.

LONDON – Tottenham Hotspur finally officially fired Jose Mourinho as coach. The issue of dismissal has indeed been blowing since Spurs were thrown from the top of the Premier League standings and failed in the Europa League and FA Cup.

“The club can confirm that Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra have been released from their posts,” the Spurs statement said in an announcement on its official Twitter account on Monday (19/4).

Mourinho has coached at Spurs since November 2019, replacing Maurichio Pochettino. This dismissal is faster than Mou’s contract which expires at the end of the 2023 season. In his first season, Mourinho led Tottenham up from 14th place, to finish in sixth place and secure a ticket to the Europa League. But Mourinho at that time failed in the last 16 of the Champions League, after being defeated by RB Leipzig.

This season, Spurs also failed in the last 16 of the Europa League after being knocked out by Dinamo Zagreb. In the league, the situation for the Spurs is more worrying, being in seventh place, five points from the Champions League zone.

Spurs’ form under Mourinho is no better than the Pochettino era, with 10 defeats until Week 32. This is Mourinho’s worst record since becoming a coach. This dismissal is considered to save the fate of Spurs in the Carabao Cup vs Manchester City final. And to keep the Lilywhites’ chances of going to the Champions League.
