WHO warns of the dangers of artificial intelligence in healthcare
The World Health Organization (WHO)is asking for care in handling platforms generated by artificial intelligence (AI), such as Bard, ChatGPT, among many others. This cutting-edge technology has expanded and grown in the market rapidly. The use of this tool undoubtedly brings benefits in several professional areas. But it has been a cause for concern in health agencies.
The WHO issued a statement asking for caution in the use of these devices that are being used frequently, and stressed the need to analyze the dangers of misuse of this technology. According to the United Nations agency (UN), reported that in the health area, the tool is not taking the care that is normally performed in the use of technology. The new language models need to be used consciously, as well as their control mechanisms. What worries the responsible bodies is the hasty adoption of this technology. An untested system can lead to irreparable mistakes made by healthcare professionals.

According to the WHO, the information present in artificial intelligence can be biased, and conducive to generating false or inaccurate information. This poses a risk to the health of patients. The alert was given because the tool presented is capable of answering questions easily, but it is not reliable. Since, there can be serious errors, especially in the context of health.
The institution claims that the tool can generate and disseminate false information. But he recognizes that with proper use, artificial intelligence can help patients, healthcare professionals, scientists and researchers. Technology can help medicine in resource-poor environments and increase diagnostic capability. However, the organization concludes that the basis of dangers and benefits needs to be studied and that the generalized use in the health area can generate risks to those involved. The tool must be used in a transparent and inclusive manner and this technology needs to be overseen and undergo rigorous evaluation.
