In turn, São Paulo qualifies two rounds in advance in the Libertadores

On a busy night in Chile, Tricolor Paulista faced Cobresal in the fourth round of the Libertadores group stage and won 3 x 1, adding another victory for Luis Zubeldía's command and the fifth consecutive victory playing as a visitor, a fact which has not happened since April 2012.

In the teams' first clash, which took place at Morumbis last month, São Paulo had difficulty creating good plays, even with a better record than their opponent and at home, but at the end of the second half, André Silva opened the scoring with a pass by Michel Araujo and Calleri closed the night with the second goal.

With today's result, São Paulo qualifies for the round of 16 of the Libertadores with two games to spare, competing only for the lead with Talleres, who are one point ahead in the table and have the same goal difference as Tricolor. This leadership will probably be decided in the last game of the group stage, as São Paulo and Talleres will face each other at Morumbis.

First stage with a draw

São Paulo started the game with 70% possession of the ball and trying to stop the opponent in every possible way, but due to a failure by the São Paulo defense, the Chileans opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Luciano went for the equalizer after an assist from Michel Araújo: a goal from number 10, which could have turned the game around before the break, but in a one-on-one move with the Chilean goalkeeper, he tried to cover up Requena without success.

Zubeldía was happy with his first substitutions in the second half, when he replaced Nestor, Galoppo and Erick in the places of Bobadilla, Michel Araújo and Ferreirinha. As soon as they entered, the midfielders gave their name: Galoppo gave the pass for Nestor to score a great goal, with a taste of the Brazilian Cup, as both goals were very similar.

And to end the night, Calleri participated in the goal twice: after a beautiful pass from Erick, the Argentine took a touch of cover, but caught the crossbar and the rebound, he headed it himself to extend the advantage and increase Tricolor's goal difference in Group B. His personal goal difference also increased: this was Calleri's twelfth for São Paulo in the Libertadores, behind only Luis Fabiano and Rogério Ceni, who have 14 each. The striker was substituted at the end of the second half and left the field feeling pain in his right calf.

Next Monday (13), São Paulo will face Fluminense in the sixth round of the Brazilian championship, at 8pm at Morumbis.
