“After talking to my team and specialists, I need to decide to take some time to recover and take care of myself and my mental health,” Mendes writes.

The 23-year-old When You’re Gone singer is putting his performances of the next three weeks in Uncasville (Connecticut) on hold. “It breaks my heart to have to say this,” he begins his story on Instagram. “I’ve been touring since I was fifteen and to be honest I always find it difficult to be on the road, away from friends and family.”

After not traveling around for a few years, he felt ready again. “But that decision came too soon.” The tension built up, until he reached a “breaking point”. “As soon as there are more updates, I promise to share them with you. I love you.”
