5 indie games for 2024

Over the years, indie games have become increasingly professional and, in many cases, even surpass super productions by offering a more polished experience.

Furthermore, sometimes scarce resources end up stimulating creativity and thinking “outside the box”. As we love independent games, we decided to select 5 indie games for you to “keep an eye on” in 2024.

1 – LocoMotive

Aimed at fans of old point and click, Locomotive mixes Agatha Christie-style stories with elements from Full Throttle and Day of the Tentacle. You can play as a lawyer, a detective or a spy to solve the mystery of a train murder. Everyone, including you, is a suspect in this crime.

2 – Nirvana Noir

Continuation of Genesis Noir, Nirvana shows a cyberpunk world inspired by the aesthetics of the 60s, where you must travel to discover a “crazy” conspiracy. After all, “No Man” traveled through a dying universe to avoid the death of his love, but he will need to face the consequences of this decision and, therefore, the world is divided into two mirrored realities: Black Rapture and Constant Testament. The two are under threat from the mysterious Bigger Bang event, and their goal is to save the cosmic city before it's too late.

3 – Helskate

This is an action hack and slash that revolves around skateboarding mechanics. Set in Verheim, the protagonist slides through the world, faces monsters and accumulates combos in rooms to reach bosses. This “crazy” combination promises to be very interesting.

4 – Open Roads

Unlike most games, this one is of the “interactive video” genre that mixes suspense and mystery and the player's objective is to investigate and uncover “buried truths”, where we discover character flaws in the characters to solve what happened. The story centers on Opal, a single mother, along with her teenage daughter Tess, who travel by car and end up discovering “more than they expected”. Anyone who likes a good story will probably love this game.

5 – INDIKA

This is also a narrative game, but unlike Open Roads it works in third person. Set in an alternative version of Russia at the end of the 19th century, the protagonist is a young nun who begins the journey of self-discovery, but ends up having an unusual companion: the Devil. The objective is to explore moral challenges, internal conflicts and make the nun reconcile her faith with human existence.
