A Song of Birds and Serpents” reveals teaser highlighting Tigris Snow

The official profile of the “Hunger Games” franchise released a teaser, last Tuesday (10), of the film “The Hunger Games: A Song of Birds and Snakes”. The 19-second video focused on showing Tigris Snow, a character played by Eugenie Bondurant in the original series and is now brought to life by Hunter Schafer, actress from the 'Euphoria' series, in the new film.

Tigris is the cousin and confidant of Coriolanus Snow, played by Tom Blyth, as well as being the competition's stylist. As time passes, Tigris and Coriolanus' relationship begins to deteriorate, which will be further explored in the plot of “The Song of Birds and Serpents”. Tigris undergoes a series of surgical procedures to truly resemble a tiger. Watch the preview below:

Plot history

The film's plot is an adaptation of the prequel book released by Suzanne Collins in 2020. It transports us to a period called “Dark Days”, which takes place 64 years before the events of the original series.

The book introduces us to the beginning of the journey of Coriolanus Snow, played by Donald Sutherland in the main franchise, an 18-year-old young man who belongs to a family that is going through difficult times. His life takes another turn when he is chosen as a mentor for the tenth edition of the Hunger Games. Reluctantly, he accepts the opportunity to mentor a young woman from District 12, Lucy Gray, played by Rachel Zegler.

However, after Lucy wins over Panem's audience, Snow sees an opportunity to change their destinies. With everything he's worked for at stake, Snow teams up with Lucy Gray in an attempt to turn the odds in her favor. He faces an internal struggle between his instincts of goodness and evil. Thus, he sets off in a race against time to survive and reveal whether, at the end of the film, he will become a bird or a snake.

The new film will be released eight years after the end of the original saga, which includes the films: “The Hunger Games” (2012), “The Hunger Games – Catching Fire” (2013), “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” (2014 ) and “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – The Ending”. Jennifer Lawrence plays the protagonist Katniss Everdeen in these films.

Movie's cast

In addition to the aforementioned Tom Blyth (“Scott and Sid“), Hunter Schafer and Rachel Zegler (“Amor, Sublime Amor”), the new film features big names. Viola Davis (“How to Get Away with Murder“) will be Doctor Volumnia Gaul; Peter Dinklage (“game of Thrones“) plays Casca Highbottom; Kjell Brutscheidt (“The Young Chief Winnetou“) is Tanner; Ashley Liao (“Secret Society of the Second Royal Sons”) is Clemensia Dovecote; and Jason Schwartzman (“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”) plays Lucretius “Lucky” Flickerman.

Francis Lawrence, who directed the last three films in the franchise, returns to direct the new plot with scripts by Collins, Michael Lesslie (“Assassin's Creed“) and Michael Arndt, who has already written one of the films in the franchise: “The Hunger Games – Catching Fire” (2013).
