After presenting with an intestinal infection, Romário is hospitalized in Rio de Janeiro
The senator and former soccer player Romário (PL-RJ) has been hospitalized since last Friday (13), at Hospital Barra D’Or, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, to treat an intestinal infection. Despite his condition being considered serious, the politician is stable, however, with no forecast of discharge.
According to the advisory of the congressman, his treatment has been based on invasive antibiotics. In addition, the family of the 57-year-old former Brazilian national team striker continues to be accompanied by the family during his stay in the hospital.
This Saturday afternoon (15), a new medical bulletin was issued by the hospital to bring new information about the health status of the politician:
“Senator Romário de Souza Faria has been hospitalized at Barra D’Or Hospital since the night of July 13, 2023, with an intestinal infection. In the last 24 hours he presented improvement of the clinical condition. He remains on intravenous antibiotic therapy, in the company of his family members”, clarified the advice of the hospital.
However, this is not the first time that Romário has provided care to prisoners, as in 2021 he had to undergo emergency surgery to remove his gallbladder. In addition, in 2016 he underwent a stomach reduction in order to control diabetes.
Retired from the fields since 2008, the politician was elected federal deputy for the state of Rio de Janeiro in 2010 when he had affiliation with the PSB (term from 2011 to 2014) and since then he has remained in political life, being also elected senator for the state of Rio de Janeiro ( Term from 2015 to 2022). In addition, in 2018, Romário became a candidate for governor for RJ. At the time he had affiliation with the political party Podemos (PODE).
The former player is the father of 6 children: Romarinho, Danielle Favatto, Isabellinha Faria, Raphael Faria, Moniquinha Faria and Ivy Faria.
