Alexandre Correa could lose custody of his son after assault against Ana Hickmann: understand the new law

Businessman Alexandre Correa confirmed, this Monday (13), the report of aggression made by his wife Ana Hickmann, in a police report carried out in Itu, in the interior of São Paulo, on Sunday (12). Now, with the confession of domestic violence, the case could also interfere with the custody of the couple's son, Alexandre Jr., just 9 years old, if the former model and presenter decides to separate from him.

In an interview with the portal “UOL”, given this Monday (13), Alexandre broke his silence and spoke for the first time about what happened and confessed that he lied when he denied the attack against the presenter to the press.

She then informed that the future of their marriage will be defined by her. “Ana is the one who decides. I don’t decide anything. Ana will decide the future of the marriage.”, he clarified. During the interview, the businessman revealed that he had not yet spoken to Ana after the crime of domestic violence.

If Ana Hickmann decides to divorce Alexandre, custody of the couple's son may be interfered with. Due to Law 14,713/2023, which prevents shared custody of children when there is a risk of some type of domestic or family violence, Alexandre could lose custody of his son.

In force since October this year, the idea of ​​the new law is to certify the safety of children or adolescents in the family environment. This way, the agency will have five days to present evidence or indications that prove such a risk. If vulnerability is confirmed, custody must be granted to the father or mother, in this case Ana Hickmann, victim of violence.

Ana Hickmann was allegedly attacked by her husband Alexandre Correa, on Saturday (11), during a fight at the family home, in the interior of São Paulo. After the attack, she went to a hospital and had to have her left arm immobilized. She arrived to register a report at the Itu police station.

This Monday (13), when presenting the program “Hoje em Dia”, on Record, Ana was already without a wedding ring.
