Anitta launches 'Boys Don't Cry', her biggest bet on her international career

In the first single of the year, Anitta brings in “Boys don't cry“, the empowering speech that Brazilian fans already know and love. But, with this super production, the singer seeks to win the hearts of the United States public once and for all.

To achieve this, the singer invested in a visual production full of references in a script and visual created by Anitta herself, in addition to counting on the collaboration of major producers from the USA, namely: Max Martin, responsible for pop songs such as “…Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears, “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift and “Dangerous Woman” by Ariana Grande; and music video directed by Christian Breslauer (“Industry Baby“, by Lil Nas X, “Streets“, by Doja Cat, “die for you”, by The Weeknd, among others).

In the lyrics, Anitta highlights the independence of women and the vulnerability that men can have. “Who says boys don't cry” (Who said boys don’t cry?), asks Anitta in part. On the soundtrack, “Boys Don't Cry” combines beats that refer to rock from the 1970s and 1980s, something that has been popular among artists such as Dua Lipa, The Weeknd and Miley Cyrus. No wonder, as Anitta brings reference to a group she is a fan of: Panic At The Disco.

In the look designed by the singer for the clip, she brings as a reference the aesthetics of Tim Burton and audiovisual products such as “Beetlejuice“, “Runaway Bride“, “tom raider“, “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert“, “Harry Potter“, among others. On Twitter, Anitta has already stated that this is her favorite clip.

Anita in “The Tonight Show“

Anitta's third appearance on Jimmy Fallon's Talk Show, the “The Tonight Show“, will be his first solo appearance. In addition to presenting his new single, “Boys Don't Cry“, the singer will give her first interview to the North American presenter. Anitta's participation will take place this Monday (31). Anitta's appearance on one of the most famous programs on US TV will help the singer reach a greater number of audience for his new song, helping to promote the single.
