Argentine midfielder is honored to wear Vasco’s shirt

Vasco da Gama continues to reinforce its squad for the dispute of the first Brazilian Championship under the command of the SAF.

With a season still below expectations (due to early elimination in the Copa do Brasil and the failure to win the Campeonato Carioca); the cruzmaltino club is still trying to get it right in 2023. With that in mind, Vasco announced its newest reinforcement last Thursday: Gabriel Carabajal.

The Córdoba-born midfielder took his first steps as a professional athlete with Patriotas in 2009. During his career, the 31-year-old midfielder has played for: Talleres, Universidad San Martín, Godoy Cruz, Patronato, Union de Santa Fe and Argentinos Juniors before heading to Santos in 2022.

With little space at the São Paulo club, Vasco became interested and managed to hire the experienced player on loan until the end of the current season.

Regularized and ready to debut, Carabajal gave his first words as a new Vasco athlete:

“It is a privilege and a great pleasure to be here as a club player after so many idols this team had. Being able to wear such a heavy shirt is a dream and an honor. It is important that a club knows how to rebuild itself and I believe that Vasco is doing that. I hope I can contribute with my ability to help the team. Being away from my country and receiving the support and affection from the fans is very beautiful. I hope that Vasco does very well this year, I promise to do everything to put Vasco in the higher place” said Gabriel.

Vasco’s new reinforcement was the 16th signing of the SAF in the current transfer window. Therefore, the Argentine must be available for coach Maurício Barbieri in the next game against Palmeiras, which will be played on the 23rd at 4:00 pm in Maracanã.
