Cristiano Ronaldo rules out playing for Corinthians and reveals preference for Al-Nassr

After a 5-0 defeat by Al-Nassr against Celta de Vigo in the pre-season held in Portugal this Tuesday (18), Cristiano Ronaldo ended up answering some questions in an interview. The player commented in the mixed zone of the Algarve about his successful career and coming to the Saudi Championship in January of this year. One of the reporters present at the time ended up raising the possibility of the Portuguese star wearing the Corinthians shirt. The striker’s short answer took away any hope from Timão’s fans, discarding it right away.

Direct answer about playing in Brazil

“It’s in Brazil? Would you play for Corinthians someday? The crowd dreams of you.” asked the reporter in a relaxed tone. Cristiano did not show much interest in the joke, but he replied in a short and objective way: “Al-Nassr. My team is Al-Nassr.”

Saudi League and indirect to Lionel Messi

In other of his statements that generated some controversy, the number 7 who played for Juventus, Real Madrid and Manchester United also ended recent rumors involving his return to European football, such as a possible retirement at Sporting, a club that the striker achieved a lot of prominence in career start. The Portuguese also spoke of a visible decline in the main leagues of the Old Continent.

“I’m not going back to European football, the door is completely closed. I’m 38 years old, and European football has lost a lot of quality… the only valid league is the Premier League, it’s way ahead of all the other leagues.” – completed the player.

Cristiano also said that the Saudi Championship is superior to Major League Soccer, known as the main football league in the United States, which was a possible destination for the Portuguese player before closing his contract with Al-Nassr. His biggest rival for several years during the decade, Argentine Lionel Messi was announced by Inter Miami in recent days. The Saudi club has been constantly mentioned in rumors in the transfer market, showing interest in great players in Brazilian football, such as: Roger Guedes, Gustavo Gómez and coach Luís Castro.
