Trump Election – Donald Trump wants to become president of the United States one more time. The 76-year-old billionaire announced his candidacy last night. It is far from certain whether Trump will get the chance to take on President Joe Biden. Within his own Republican Party, Trump will likely have to defeat another critically acclaimed candidate first.

Trump Election

Trump was the 45th U.S. president between 2017 and 2021. In the last presidential election, he was defeated by Biden. He still refuses to acknowledge that result.

“To make our country successful, safe and glorious, I will probably have to stand there again,” Trump said at campaign rallies in recent weeks. With that, the former president referred to his former campaign sloganMake America Great Again.

But there seem to be more hijackers on the coast. And about one of them, Trump seems to be (rightly) worried: Ron DeSantis.

DeSantis is the re-elected governor of the state of Florida. In last week’smidterm elections, he won a big victory over his Democratic challenger. DeSantis received almost 60 percent of the vote, sending a clear signal to the Republican Party: he can get so-called swing states on his hand.

It is precisely these swing states, which, unlike other American states, do not have a clear party preference, that are crucial in the presidential elections.

Trump feels hot breath from DeSantis in his neck

DeSantis has not (yet) stood for election. Trump wants that to stay that way. For example, the former president warned that he will come up with “unpleasant revelations” if the 44-year-old Republican puts himself forward. “I know more about him than anyone else and those things aren’t particularly flattering,” Trump said.

The Republican senator can be considered a slightly more moderate version of Trump. DeSantis, like Trump, cherishes far-right political ideas, but is not hindered by the controversy surrounding the last election. Trump’s claims about election fraud were not appreciated by all Republicans. It makes DeSantis — who Trump calls “DeSanctimonius” (the hypocrite) — all the more dangerous for Trump.

But DeSantis also has its weaknesses. “He is administratively very competent, but he does not have the charisma and originality that Trump has,” says America expert Diederik Brink. “He is seen as the best student from Trump’s school, but that movement was shaped by Master Trump himself. DeSantis doesn’t have that creative marketing brain.”

In addition, despite the scandals, Trump still has great support within the Republican Party. According to Brink, this support consists of two groups, one of which actually supports his vision and plans. “But the second group is loyal for fear of being attacked. They hope to move up the political ladder by supporting Trump.”

Trump is worried

The 76-year-old billionaire shows with his statements about DeSantis in any case that he has not changed anything. He also put himself forward in the Republican primaries in 2015 by attacking other candidates in the media. Then, for example, Jeb Bush, son of former President George Bush senior, had to pay the price.

DeSantis has not yet responded to Trump’s remarks. “There’s a huge political pressure coming at him,” Republican campaign strategists toldThe New York Times. “DeSantis is welcomed within the party as the hero of the party.”

Brink does not yet dare to make statements about who wins the upcoming battle. “In the previous Republican primaries, everyone thought Trump would never win against all the other talent. You should never underestimate him.” (Trump Election)

He also takes into account that DeSantis will not be the only competitor. “There are more talents, but they are waiting for the battle of these alpha males,” says Brink. “Think Tom Cotton (Arkansas), Ted Cruz (Texas), Nikki Haley (South Carolina) and Larry Hogan (Maryland). This group is still wondering what the best route to the White House is.”
