Fausto leaves Band and switches to SBT: he’s all excited

This Thursday (18), Band made an announcement that shook the Brazilian television scene: Fausto Silva, the iconic presenter “Faustão”, will leave his daily program in the second semester. Fausto's contract was valid until 2026, but will be terminated early.

In the statement, the broadcaster said:

“In common agreement with Band, presenter Fausto Silva will leave the daily program in the second half of the year. When he leaves, Faustão will have led the Band's nights with competence and professionalism for a year and a half. 'Faustão na Band', with more than 700 hours of programming, 350 editions and the participation of the biggest names in the artistic class in Brazil, brought joy, fun and information to millions of Brazilian families. The Band will continue to invest in this range of entertainment with daily attractions and new features that will be announced soon.”

According to information released, Fausto interrupted the cameras during the recording of his last episode on “Faustão in the Band” to meet with the directors, announcing his departure.

It was also announced by general director Cris Gomes that, in July, his son, João Guilherme Silva, and presenter Anna Lottermann will take over the attraction. During this transition period, Band will show new episodes until the end of the month, interspersed with selected reruns.

For Patrícia Kogut's column, Anna Lottermann revealed that this transition was already planned from the beginning, stating that “Fausto prepared us to take over. It was agreed from day 1. I learned a lot during this period and from the best. We usually say that a year and a half of a program on Band is equivalent to seven years of “Domingão”. It's very intense”.

Even though he renounced his salary and invested his own money to create structures like “Faustão's Pizzeria” and the “Dance of the Beasts”, Faustão would have been returning to the Sunday programs, resuming the fame he achieved with the “domingão Faustão“, on Globo.

Rumors indicate that Faustão would be negotiating with SBT, after a pizza night attended by José Roberto Maciel, CEO of the Silvio Santos Group, but the broadcaster denied any relationship. While we don't know what the presenter's new home will be, it remains for us to follow his latest programs on Band.
