Federal Police rescue illegal immigrants in Espírito Santo!
On the morning of this Monday (10), the Federal Police (PF) of Vitória, received the alert of suspicion of a possible entry of illegal immigrants in the country in the state of Espírito Santo. Police went out to investigate the situation on a Liberian-flagged ship.
The complaint was that there were stowaways among the crew of the vessel, which left the city of Lagos, Nigeria, on June 27.

The federal police went to the scene and confirmed the presence of a group of four illegal immigrants who were sitting on the external structure of the ship. They identified themselves as Nigerians.
The ship was on the coast of Espírito Santo and, according to the PF, the immigrants were located by the crew itself.
They were hidden in the ship’s wheelhouse. For humanitarian and security reasons, all were rescued and the conditional disembarkation of the group was authorized due to their precarious health conditions.
According to the Federal Police, the four immigrants will be in custody and the responsibility for them will be with the Maritime Police Nucleus of the Federal Police (Nepom) until the necessary measures are taken for them to return to their country of origin. The agency reported that they will be sent back to their country of origin compulsorily.
“The foreigners were taken to the maritime group for identification and administrative procedures. They will remain in the custody of the ship’s mercantile agency until their compulsory return to Nigeria”said Chief Eugenio Ricas, Federal Police superintendent in Espírito Santo.
“The rescued citizens claim to be Nigerian nationals but lack documents to confirm their origin and identities”the Federal Police said in a statement.
The rescued men claim to have come from Nigeria. However, they did not present any documents to confirm their identities or prove anything they said, according to the PF.
