Gabigol trains under Flamengo's instructions in his own home

Eleven days after being sentenced to a two-year suspension for attempting to cheat on an anti-doping test, the center forward continues to seek to reverse the punishment and, at the same time, dedicates himself to maintaining his physical shape to return to playing for Flamengo. Due to the suspension, the striker is prevented from visiting the premises of any professional club, including the club that has him under contract. This limits you to training in locations that are not considered “high performance.”

Despite the change in routine, Gabigol's habits did not undergo any major changes. Training at home was already part of his practices before the suspension, and he always maintained physical care outside the training center, relying on the support of private professionals.

How it has worked

The structure that allows training at the player's home includes a complete gym, where he carries out part of the activities. The other part is made in the fields of the condominium where he lives, in Barra da Tijuca. Training planning is carried out under the supervision of the club's medical department, in conjunction with the physical preparation dictated by the red-black team. The objective is to minimize the impacts of the suspension, while Gabigol trains separately from the squad.

Internally, the discourse is that it is time to “take care” of the player. The athlete has already had contact with members of the football department after his suspension, including coach Tite, who sent a message of solidarity to the attacker after the victory over Nova Iguaçu, the first game without the attacker.

Hope and optimism

While awaiting the judgment of the appeal, Gabriel Barbosa focuses on maintaining his physical shape and seeks to reverse the punishment. Last Tuesday, the attacker's defense filed a request for a suspensive effect with the CAS (Sports Court of Arbitration). The objective is for the player to return to action before the final judgment of the case in the Swiss court.

Flamengo is optimistic about CAS's response, believing that the analysis of the request will be quick. The delay in the process, according to the defense, could lead Gabigol to serve part or even all of the suspension imposed, even if he is later cleared.
