John Cena comments on season 2 of Peacemaker: “We’re standing”

The process of changes in the DC cinematic universe may affect some productions, but it appears that the second season of “Peacemaker” is still in the plans. At least, that's what actor John Cena, who plays the protagonist of the series that was one of the biggest hits on streaming last year, assured.

Second season of “Peacemaker” should happen

At the launch event for the film “The Iron Claw”, John Cena gave an interview to “Variety” and commented on the second season of “Peacemaker”. He took the opportunity to praise director James Gunn, who worked as director on the first season and is confirmed behind the scenes of the next episodes.

“I know they're tinkering with some things at DC, but I know James Gunn has made some statements, and we're standing by for Season 2 of Peacemaker. And what he says, he usually does.”

The DCU's first television series, “Peacemaker” has a plot focused on the title character, after the events of “Suicide Squad”, also directed by James Gunn. The cast also features Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma and Robert Patrick in supporting roles, as well as a participation by Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, among others.

Synopsis of “Peacemaker”

“Set after the events of The Suicide Squad (2021), the series portrays the origins of the superhero Peacemaker (John Cena), who gained a second chance when given the mission to kill bad people. In his quest for world peace, he will not mind using force of arms.”

The new season has no release date. The original episodes are available on HBO Max. There are eight episodes in total, which were released between January and February 2022.
