Marília, the queen of suffering, is honored on the awards stage

A little over a month ago, the eternal Queen of Suffering passed away due to a tragic plane crash. Marília was competing for Best Singer of the Year at the 2021 Multishow Awards and, after the sad news, the singers who were also nominated in the same category – IZA, Ivete Sangalo, Luísa Sonza and Anitta – decided to pay homage to the Queen in a gesture of respect, love and sorority, electing the Boss as the winner.

On a night full of emotions, the singers took to the stage to sing some of Rainha da Sofrência's hits. IZA sang the hit “How do you do with her”Ivete released her voice to the sound of “I know by heart” and Luísa paid tribute with “Who's to blame”. At the end, the three sang one of the hits that most marked Marília's farewell: “Everyone Will Suffer”.

Shortly after the singers' performance, Dona Ruth and João Gustavo, Marília Mendonça's mother and brother, went on stage to receive the Queen's trophy for “Singer of the Year”.

“It is a great honor to be representing my daughter today. Thank you for all of your affection, the affection of Brazil and the world towards her, towards us, for the prayers. Because we remain strong because we can share this pain with you and dedicate this award to her flock of fans, who she always loved and who we still love. Thanks!“, said Dona Ruth.

João Gustavo, brother of the Queen of Sofrência, added: “I just wanted to give a message. Marília wanted to see everyone happy. Everyone who is here today, I'm sure you were able to share some experience with Marília, some teaching, and I know that you keep that in your heart. And I want you to always remember what Marília passed on to each one of you. Today I'm wearing a chain with this pendant, with the initials R and M, which I engraved a while ago, and that's how I'm going to carry it on my chest, forever“.
