The day art meets fashion. This is how Mia Mamede, the current Miss Brazil, enters the history of the most iconic beauty pageant, after having represented the country at this year’s Miss Universe Brazil. The feat happened thanks to the genius of the renowned muralist Eduardo Kobra, who transformed a gala dress into a legitimate work of art, which exalts women and diversity.
Kobra accepted the challenge and created the piece with his unmistakable trait, present in giant murals in major world cities such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, London, New York, Amsterdam, Moscow and Tokyo.

On a “white canvas” in the shape of a dress, created by stylist Bruno Oliveira, the muralist portrayed ethnic diversity with a black woman and another representative of native peoples.
“The idea came from my admiration for Kobra and the connection we have through sustainability. He agreed at the time, such was his generosity and understanding of the importance of women in society. We tell, in the dress, what I have perpetuated in my reign: the awareness that we are far beyond physical beauty. I am anxious to see how the public will react”, says Mia about the partnership with the renowned artist.

“There are many forms of beauty that must be highlighted and noticed. Beauty is diverse! It is also important to always emphasize that beauty is lost if it is not accompanied by good actions and respect for the diversity that exists in our country and on our planet”, said Eduardo Kobra.
The work-of-art dress was entitled MISSionária and made the capixaba communicator a third character in the sum of differences. Miss Brazil passed the sash and crown using the moment to leave a powerful message.

“With the representation of three women from different ethnic groups, we have the strength of a MISSionary, bringing the understanding that we, women of the 21st century, have a space and a place to speak, thanks to the strength and struggle of women from previous generations who sought bravely for this right”, pointed out Miss Brazil.
