Three Michael Jackson songs were taken from his posthumous album “Michael” (2010) on streaming platforms. The removal decision was made due to allegations that these songs had supposedly been recorded in someone else's voice, given that the King of Pop passed away in 2009.

According to information from Variety, the action by Sony Music and the Estate of Michael Jackson was an effort to “move beyond” the controversy, they also found that the vocals are not “fake”. “Nothing should be read into this action about the authenticity of the trackss”, they state in a published statement.

Breaking News“, “Monster” and “Keep Your Heads Up” are the songs that caused the controversy. Since their release they caused a stir, a fan even took the situation to court in 2014, a lawsuit was filed alleging violation of consumer rights, fraud and unfair competition. In this case, the jury ruled in favor of the record company and Jackson's estate.

The artist's musical rights holders claim that the three tracks were recorded in 2007, composed and produced by Edward Cascio and James Porte, two years before Jackson's death from an accidental overdose.

For fans who deny the veracity of the songs, the vocals were recorded by singer Jason Malachi. The artist, in a Facebook post, revealed that he had replaced the voice of the king of pop, via TMZ. However, this was soon denied by his agent.

Right now, Sony and Jackson's estate are focused on celebrating the legacy of the artist, whose one of the main works “Thriller” celebrates 40 years since its release in November. To avoid problems, they decided to remove the songs from streaming and dedicate more to projects about Michael Jackson, such as a Broadway musical and a biopic.
