New “Mean Girls” movie gets Christmas teaser

In 2004, “Mean Girls” debuted in theaters. The film, written by Tina Fey and directed by Mark Waters, amassed a legion of fans with its comedic and insightful script, satirizing the view of American high school. Almost 20 years later, the musical version was announced, bringing a new perspective to the work. Last Monday (25), the official profile of the new version of the film released a teaser on Instagram, with the memorable Christmas dance scene from the original film.

Tina Fey is the screenwriter and creative force behind the film

Tina Fey, known in Hollywood for her witty sense of humor and comedic works, is present in the new version of the film. Previously, Fey played Mrs. Norbury, a divorced teacher, and was also a writer and producer on the film. In the new version, the star will play the same roles.

The actress and producer commented on her participation in the new musical work on the “Saturday Night Live” program: “We couldn't grow old. Teachers work forever. I want it to be like Gilligan from 'Gilligan's Island' was at a fair and you'd say, 'Oh, he looks so old with his little hat.' That's my goal.”

Promising generation of actors in the new version of “Mean Girls”

The cast of the new film features big names in the industry such as Jenna Fischer (The Office), Ashley Park (Emily in Paris), Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Busy Philipps (The White Girls). Those responsible for playing the four main characters will be Angourie Rice as Cady, Avantika as Karen, Bebe Wood as Gretchen and Reneé Rapp as the antagonist Regina George.

Reneé Rapp, who appeared on the HBO series “The Sexual Life of College Girls,” attracted positive attention from the public for her talent as Leighton Murray. The actress is considered a great promise in the industry for her remarkable performance and musical talent, having previously participated in plays at the Broadway Theater at just 19 years old.

The film is scheduled to be released on January 11, 2024.
