Neymar says he supports Flamengo after watching the game at Maracanã

Neymar Jr. is on vacation in Brazil and took advantage of this Thursday (13) to watch Flamengo's 2-1 victory over Grêmio in the Brazilian Championship at the Maracanã Stadium. After the match, the striker from Al-Hilal, from Saudi Arabia, gave an interview to the club's official channel, FLATV and stated that his second favorite team is Flamengo, after Santos.

On Wednesday (12) he published a photo with his friend Gabigol's old shirt with the number 10 and created a stir on the internet, with positive and negative comments, as he was revealed by Santos and fans are expecting the return of the star for the club.

After the game, the striker, who watched the match in one of the stadium's boxes, at the invitation of his friend Gabigol, went down to the club's locker room and went to greet the athletes. There, he took photos with players and talked to the red-and-black squad and coach Tite. He received a blouse with Gabi's new number, shirt 99.

I dream of playing for Flamengo

It is not new that the attacker claims to want to play for Flamengo and after the match he gave an interview to the club's official channel, FLATV and stated that, in addition to dreaming of wearing the red-black shirt, this is his second favorite team, after Santos, which revealed him to the world of football.

In the FLATV report, he stated that he had respect for Santos above all, as it was the club that formed him and that he said he had enormous affection for Flamengo, stating that it would be a great pleasure to one day wear the red-black shirt and play in a packed Maracanã . He did not confirm that he will one day play for the club, stating that he still has a contract with Al-Hilal and will fulfill it, leaving his future open.

Marcos Braz commented on Neymar

Flamengo's vice president of football, Marcos Braz, spoke to the press after the match and commented on the presence of Neymar supporting the club in one of the boxes at Maracanã.

Braz said he was happy with the striker's illustrious presence and stated that there is no negotiation for him to wear the red-black shirt in the future. He said that any player of Neymar's size is welcome and that the player's contract with Al-Hilal is still long, and it is crazy to consider signing the player at this moment.

Neymar's contract with Al-Hilal ends in June 2025 and there is speculation that he would return to Brazil after it ends. The Brazilian is currently recovering from a serious knee injury, rupture of the anterior cruciate, suffered in October 2023.

Flamengo, with the victory over Grêmio, regained the lead in the Brazilian Championship with 17 points. On Sunday, the red and black team faces Athletico in Curitiba at 4 pm, Brasília time.
