Preta Gil reports near-death experience after being diagnosed with cancer

This Monday (04), in celebration of women's month, singer Preta Gil was interviewed by the program Roda Viva. During the interview, she discussed everything that has happened in her life since the discovery of bowel cancer last year and how she dealt with the issue of death.

Fear of death

Preta spoke about her near-death experience at the beginning of treatment, highlighting that it was a watershed moment, where she was resuscitated by doctors and came back to life. She explained that, despite her initial fear, talking to her father, Gilberto Gil, in a human and affectionate way, helped her face death.

Although she felt scared at first, during her days in hospital, she began to connect and lose her fear, realizing that the energy of death is, in fact, of life, as human beings die because they lived.

The singer explained that today there is a calm in the face of death and that it doesn't keep her up at night. She also said that after the entire process, she takes better care of her health to have a long life, until God wants it. She reported that she talks to him a lot and thinks they have reached an agreement. She ended by saying that the disease brings you very close to death and humanizes you, leading you to a deconstruction.

Awareness

Preta said that, due to her illness, she started to want to talk more about the subject. She mentioned that many people were afraid to discuss the disease in front of her due to the taboo associated with it, but that she does not feel ashamed to reveal that her cancer was in the rectum. She explained that because the tumor was large, she had to undergo chemotherapy to shrink it before undergoing removal surgery.
