Steve Kerr vents about Stephen Curry's performances: “It looks like…”

Even with the coach concerned about the point guard's poor performances, the star disagrees with the commander, minimizing the bad phase

Due to the extensive number of games in a season of NBA, the regularity of the players is almost impossible to maintain at a high level. And not even the league's biggest stars are safe from the inconsistencies arising from a frantic calendar of matches. The shipowner Stephen Curry has been going through a bad phase that was even recognized by Steve Kerrcoach of Golden State Warriors, since returning from All-Star Weekend. The commander of the California franchise has an explanation for the basketball legend's drop in performance.

“Stephen has been looking tired to me the last few games. And, by the way, that makes sense. He didn't get much rest at the All-Star Game break and then we came back with three games in four days. I have no doubt that he is tired, but that is normal at this point in the campaign. It happens. He will certainly turn things around.”said the experienced coach, after the defeat to Denver Nuggets.

The supposed fatigue of the number 30, at first, really appears in his numbers, with the point guard only scoring more than 20 points in one of the four post-All-Star Break games. Furthermore, he made just 14 of 47 shots from the perimeter in the period, less than 30%. The coach understands that the drop exists and does not rule out sparing the veteran.

“We can look for a gap in the calendar. For now, we will analyze your condition every day to be careful. But I don't worry because it's a stage that all players go through throughout the season. We feel a little fatigued, the leg feels heavy. And if we have to take a scheduled rest to help him, we will do it.”said Kerr.

But the player himself disagrees with the coach. Curry denied he was tired after a journalist detailed Kerr's comments. “I don't feel tired. I don't want to lose games. You set a standard in your career. Then, when it doesn't reach you, these insinuations about tiredness appear. But that's why we measure players' averages. There are ups and downs during a season and you can't stop. To sum it up, I'm just missing a few shots.”commented the four-time champion.

“I need to keep pitching because that’s the nature of being available every night. If you always play, it's impossible not to experience phases and fluctuations. After all, what I can’t do is lose confidence in myself.”added Curry.
