Tekken 8 will have panel with Mike Tyson and Cris Cyborg at Comic Con

Bandai Namco has announced that Mike Tyson will headline Tekken 8’s “The Art of Fighting” panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2023. The boxing legend will be joined by Cris Cyborg, MMA’s only Grand Slam Champion, and WWE superstar Xavier Woods, aka Austin Creed.

All of them will be joined by Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada and producer Michael Murray, moderated by esports star Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez. “Tekken 8: The Art of Fighting” will take place on Friday, July 21 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm ET at the San Diego Convention Center (Hall 6BCF).

Tekken 8 is in development for PS5, Xbox Series and PC (Steam).

The Tekken 8 panel at SDCC will bring together real-world and entertainment fighters to discuss common themes and how combat techniques have evolved, changing how fights are represented in games. One of the highlights of the Tekken franchise is its cast of fighters with diverse fighting profiles, based on over 21 real martial arts styles. Tekken 8 is bringing these never-before-seen legendary moves like Bryan Fury’s Kickboxing, Hwoarang’s Taekwondo and King’s unique style, a love letter to professional wrestling and Lucha Libre.

Attendees will share their professional career stories by looking at what led them to embrace combat and their experiences in fighting culture in games and entertainment. Known for their distinguished careers, Tyson and Woods bring a greater shine to the panel. Tyson is a part of video game history as one of the first professional athletes to put his face on a fighting game, while Woods owns the popular YouTube channel “UpUpDownDown” with over 2.4 million subscribers.

Another star of the presentation is Cris Cyborg, considered one of the greatest martial artists of all time. She is currently the Bellator MMA Women’s Featherweight Champion and the only fighter to win an MMA Grand Slam. Along with Tekken director Harada, producer Murray and host Goldenboy guiding the conversation, the panel is sure to bring unforgettable stories and unmissable moments.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. is bringing an immersive Tekken 8-themed space to San Diego Comic-Con, featuring art, a non-alcoholic drink station, DJ, cosplayers, temporary tattoos, game stations and more. Tekken 8 activation takes place from July 20th to 23rd at the San Diego Wine & Culinary Center.
