Terra e Paixão: Abuses suffered by Lucinda cause debate in real life

One of the most tense plots to follow in “Earth and Passion“, TV Globo, is Lucinda’s fight (Deborah Falabella) against her abusive relationship with Andrade (Angelo Antonio). The character suffers from her husband, who abuses the woman in every way, even beating her several times during the plot, in addition to messing with her psychology.

Initially, the CEO of PsicoPass defined what an abusive relationship is: “An abusive relationship is when there is an excess of power and control on the part of one of the people in the relationship in which the abuser feels with total right to the other, exercising excessive jealousy, control over their clothes, on social networks and in their family, social and even professional relationships, exercise financial control, emotional blackmail disguised as “excessive care and love” but which can even cause a certain emotional dependence, fear in the other to hurt. Many times these behaviors are veiled and it takes a long time for the other to notice and be able to do something about it”.

In Lucinda’s case, the vast majority of attacks happen mainly within the couple’s home, but the professional made it clear that a relationship of this type is not confined to four walls.

Annely (Tata Werneck) lives her own plot in the soap opera, but is her sister’s main ally when it comes to realizing Andrade’s abusive attitudes. However, Lucinda herself often denies help and claims that everything is fine.

Rosângela explains this attitude: “The woman often does not realize that that behavior is about abuse, the abuser himself expresses his behavior as something associated with love, concern and excessive care for the other and often the woman due to lack of affection, or even romantic illusion lets himself be carried away to such a critical point that he can begin to question”.

THE PRESENCE OF A SON

To make matters worse for Lucinda, she has a son with Andrade, Cristian (Felipe Melquiades), who has already witnessed some of the extreme situations at home.

“Women generally try to keep their children from these threats, they never share their pain and even defend the abuser’s attitude, claiming that he may be exhausted, nervous or sick but that everything is for the love of the family, the children as a child may not realize it but in a short time, they understand that this behavior is harmful to everyone and can lead to their distancing, especially in adolescence and worse, many times that child will become a future abuser, due to the model experienced in family relationships”, explains the psychologist.
