The Weeknd makes shocking revelation about his career in latest performance

During a performance that took place last weekend, singer The Weeknd, before singing the collaborative song with French Montana “Another One Of Me”, commented to the audience that was there that the track in question could be the last collaboration of your career. The statement disappointed some fans, who expected a “feat” of the artist with Bruno Mars or a new song with Lana Del Rey and Ariana Grande, two artists he used to collaborate with frequently.

The Weeknd's collaborations

Throughout his career, The Weeknd has accumulated several successful collaborations with big names in the industry, such as Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Daft Punk, Future, A$AP ROCKY and a list of renowned artists. Some of these collaborations reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, became soundtracks for films and were nominated for awards, such as the track “Starboy” featuring Daft Punk, which was nominated for the American Music Awards and won the Pop Music Awards (ASCAP ).

What could this mean

Recently, The Weeknd had already expressed his desire to give his career a new direction by adopting his given name Abel Tesfaye, even changing his pseudonym for it on social media. He also signed as Abel in “The Idol”, a series he created in partnership with Reza Fahim and Sam Levinson, in which he also starred. After that, the Canadian appeared on rapper Travis Scott's recently released album “Utopia” signing as The Weeknd on two tracks.

It is possible that all of this is part of a transition process for the artist to adopt his given name once and for all and leave the “weekend” behind, due to the fact that he still has commitments to fulfill using his artistic name. Considering that the “After Hours Til Dawn Global Stadium Tour” is underway and will last until the end of October, including passing through Brazil on the 7th, 10th and 11th of the last month of the tour, the name should remain at least until then .
