After gynecomastia and liposuction surgery, Eliezer shares recovery on social media: “New chapter”

Former BBB Eliezer, 33 years old, underwent gynecomastia and liposuction surgery this Wednesday (30).

About the condition

The doctor, plastic surgeon at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein and SBCP (Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery), explains that this condition arises when there is a decrease in testosterone levels (male hormone) and an increase in estrogen levels (female hormone).

During puberty, girls develop breasts due to an increase in the hormone estrogen. In men, this process leads to the growth of the mammary glands, which can happen at any stage of life, according to Dr. Uguetto.

He also notes that about 70% to 80% of teenagers suffer from this condition during adolescence, due to hormonal fluctuations during this period. This can cause a hardened lump under the nipple, which can be painful.

Although it is not common to present symptoms at other ages, gynecomastia often results in breast growth.

Dr. Uguetto mentions that gynecomastia also frequently affects newborn babies, due to the transfer of maternal estrogen during breastfeeding. After weaning, the child's glands typically return to normal size.

After the age of 60, gynecomastia can occur due to andropause, which is when the male body's natural production of testosterone decreases.

In Eliezer's case, the surgeon also takes into account the possible impact of weight gain and loss of lean mass on the condition, as the breasts contain both glands and fat. Fat also contains an enzyme that converts male hormones into female hormones, which can worsen the situation.

Recovery

Full recovery after gynecomastia surgery may take a few months. However, after 2 months, it is possible to notice a flatter and more uniform appearance in the male chest, without bulges in the nipple or pectoral area. Pain and discomfort usually decrease during this period.
